Acute Spinal Bracing
We treat acute spinal injuries at local hospitals with same day or next day delivery of spinal braces when there has been a fracture or concern of damage to the spinal column that warrants immobilization. We can fit our patients with a customized back brace that will reduce pain, and allow the body to heal. This brace is worn until the body is healed enough to support itself.
Chronic Spinal Bracing
A brace used in chronic conditions is worn to protect the body from further damage and lessen constant pain. Some of the common conditions in which these are used are:
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Nerve Injury / Compression
- Osteoarthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Post-Surgery
- Scoliosis
- Spinal Disc Herniation
- Spinal Stenosis
- Spondylolysis
- Spondylolisthesis
In these conditions the purpose of the brace is to limit any painful motions and help support the trunk. These braces are not necessarily worn all of the time. They are only worn when the patient feels it is necessary (ie. when being most active or when performing activities that are the most painful).
Cervical Orthosis (CO)
Cervical orthoses (CO’s) are used to provide stability and decrease pain for a number of different neuromuscular and musculoskeletal issues and vertebral fractures of the neck. When braces like these are required, they are usually custom-to-measure to support your neck. CO’s are prescribed and custom fit to aid in the treatment of various conditions.
Lumbar Sacral Orthosis (LSO), Thoraco Lumbar Sacral Orthosis (TLSO)
Lumbar Sacral Orthoses (LSO’s) and Thoracic Lumbar Sacral Orthoses (TLSO’s) are used to provide stability and decrease pain for a number of different neuromuscular and musculoskeletal issues including fractures affecting the back. When braces like these are required, they can be custom made or custom-to-measure to support your lower and upper back. LSO’s and TLSO’s are prescribed and custom fit to aid in the treatment of a wide variety of back and spinal conditions and injuries.
